Deer Meadow Families,
A Great Start to the School Year!
We’ve had a wonderful first few weeks at Deer Meadow! Students have been learning our procedures and expectations and have already jumped into the curriculum.
We recently completed DIBELS testing for students in kindergarten through second grade and i-Ready testing for students in first and second grade. Kindergarten students will complete i-Ready testing September 1–4. We wanted to give our youngest learners a little extra time to settle into school before beginning.
Teachers use the results from these assessments to create W.I.N. groups. W.I.N. stands for “What I Need” and gives students personalized instruction based on their individual needs. Our master schedule includes dedicated Reading and Math W.I.N. times, when students work in small groups, receive targeted instruction, and have their progress continually monitored. All students will begin participating in W.I.N. groups tomorrow!
Tiger Cub H.E.R.O. Volunteer Program
We are excited to launch our new Tiger Cub H.E.R.O. Volunteer Program! Lend a paw, lead the way, and sign up to volunteer by scanning the QR code or visiting

If you already volunteer at Deer Meadow, please complete the form so we can make sure we have your current information.
Tiger Cub STAR Cards
You may have heard your child come home excited because they earned a STAR Card! Tiger Cub STAR Cards are part of our positive behavior support system. When students are caught doing great things, they can earn a STAR Card.
Students place their cards into a weekly drawing, and winners are selected each Friday. Those students receive tokens to choose a book from our book vending machine!
