October has been a wonderful month filled with learning, excitement, special experiences, and opportunities for our Tiger Cubs to shine! From exciting field trips and our Scholastic Book Fair to fire safety lessons and classroom celebrations, our students have been busy learning and making memories.

As we wrap up October and look ahead to November, we want to share some of the amazing things happening at Deer Meadow!

🍂 October Highlights: Great Things Are Happening at Deer Meadow!

Our Kindergarten students enjoyed a fun-filled trip to Max and Honey's Apple Orchard, where they had the opportunity to explore, learn, and experience the excitement of fall!

Our 1st graders traveled to the Children's Museum this week for a day filled with hands-on learning, exploration, and discovery. We love providing our students with opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom!

What an incredible Book Fair week! A HUGE thank-you to our amazing Deer Meadow PTO for organizing such a special week for our students and families!

Between our fun dress-up days, excitement over new books, and a very special Grandparents Night, it was a week full of smiles and memories. We are so grateful for our PTO volunteers and the families who continue to support our school!

Our Tiger Cubs had the opportunity to learn important fire safety skills from our local firefighters! Students learned how to stay safe in an emergency and even had the opportunity to explore a fire truck up close.

Thank you to our local firefighters for taking the time to educate our students and serve our community!

We love recognizing our students for their hard work, academic growth, and accomplishments!

Many of our Tiger Cubs have earned special classroom achievement and growth awards, giving them the opportunity to visit other classrooms to help teachers, read to younger students, and serve as positive role models.

These opportunities allow our students to celebrate their success while developing confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills. We are so proud of them!

We have successfully completed our schoolwide dyslexia screenings and our 2nd grade CogAT testing. These assessments provide valuable information to help us better understand our students' learning needs and guide instruction.

Additionally, Susie's Place visited Deer Meadow to provide age-appropriate body safety lessons. These lessons help students understand personal safety, boundaries, and the importance of identifying trusted adults.

We appreciate the partnerships that help us support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students!

🎃 Fall Parties & Halloween Costumes — Tomorrow!

Our classrooms will celebrate fall with parties tomorrow afternoon, Friday, October 30!

Students are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to school! To ensure a safe and enjoyable day for everyone, please follow these guidelines:

📅 Looking Ahead: November Events

November is shaping up to be another exciting month at Deer Meadow!

We are excited to kick off our Get Crafty Club! This will be a wonderful opportunity for students to explore their creativity, create special projects, and have fun together.

We are looking forward to honoring the brave men and women who have served our country during our Veterans Day Program on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

We are excited to provide our students with an opportunity to recognize and show appreciation for our veterans.

Our school counselors are sponsoring Career Night on November 11! This special event will provide opportunities for students and families to explore different careers and begin dreaming about their futures.

If your child was absent, is new, you didn't purchase photos earlier in the year, or you wish for your child to have their picture retaken for the yearbook the photographer will be here November 16thl. 

Mark your calendars! Our wonderful PTO will be sponsoring a Daddy-Daughter Dance on Friday, November 20.

We look forward to this special evening of memories and fun. More details will be shared soon!

One of our favorite 2nd grade traditions is returning! On Tuesday, November 24, our 2nd graders will celebrate their annual Balloons Over Broadway event.

Inspired by the beloved story and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, this special experience combines creativity, literacy, and fun!

There will be no school Wednesday, November 25, through Friday, November 27, in observance of Thanksgiving.

We hope our families enjoy a wonderful break filled with rest, gratitude, and time together!

As we reflect on October, I am reminded of how fortunate we are to have such an incredible school community. Our students continue to amaze us with their growth, kindness, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning.
